[Faith Race 1-16-2021 ]
Press On In The WORD
With the presence of trials and tribulations that continue to test our faith in life each day, trials and tribulations that embody hardship and suffering in our daily conditions of physical and mental health, financial welfare, and our overall sense of well-being, there is a rest that is available to us by the promises of God in Christ Jesus, the Son of His love.
Today, as we leave the days of 2020 behind, let us be diligent to enter the rest that has been promised to us in the Lord.
Harken To God’s Voice
God spoke to His people in their exodus from Egypt, as they were led by Moses to journey through the wilderness to reach and enter the promised land of milk and honey. Much to the dismay of the generation which journeyed through the desert, they did not enter the rest because of disobedience.
Similar to those days , we are being led through the wilderness of this world, having to trust God to enter His rest. Our hearts must be right with God for us to hear His word, and believe as we are led by the Holy Spirit to live, and move, and have our being in the Lord (Acts 17:28).
It is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who speaks to and guides believers into all truth, taking what He hears to declare the things of the Lord to His believers, and tell them things to come (John 16:13-15).
Do Not Harden Your Heart
As you pray and seek to hear God’s voice, let not your heart be hardened. For the same applies to all today, as it is written of the days when God’s people journeyed through the desert:
Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness.
Where your father’s tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said. ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have known My ways.’
So I swore in My wrath,
‘They will not enter My rest.’ ” Hebrews 3:7-11.
And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Hebrews 3:18-19.
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Hebrews 3:12-15.
Rest In The Lord Jesus Christ
Jesus said: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29.
There is blessing in the Lord’s rest, for those who are obedient to and remain in His word, as they believe. Let it be in our lives, as it is written by the psalmist, David:
The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me. Return to rest, O my soul, For the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. Psalm 116:6-7.
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. Psalm 37:7.
Blessed is the man that You instruct, O Lord, And teach out of Your law, That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, Until the pit is dug for the wicked. For the Lord will not cast off His people, Nor will He forsake His inheritance. Psalm 94:12-14.
He makes me lie down in green pastures: He leads me besides still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His names sake. Psalm 23:2-3.
The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, And have not wickedly departed from my God. Psalm 18:20-21.
For David says concerning Him: ‘ I foresaw the Lord always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope. Acts 2:25-26.
I have set the Lord always before me; Because He is at my right hand I shall not me moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope. Psalm 16:8-9.
Enter God’s Promised Rest
Each and every day we are faced with distractions that come within trials and tribulations, which can influence us from casting aside every weight and the sin the easily ensnares us, and cause us to turn away from looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, as we run the race of faith set before us (Hebrews 12:1-2).
Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the earth. Hebrews 4:1-3.
There remains a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart. Hebrews 4:9-12.
Blessings in God’s rest to you and yours this new year, as you…
Praise, Bless, and Please the Lord!
