In light of all that has been happening in this country, it has been very overwhelming for many people. There are many voices declaring their opinions and agendas through various venues- television, social media, radio, and even pulpits. All of these voices say that they are “right” and are speaking the “truth” on these issues. We live in an age of relativism (the book of Judges) where situations/circumstances dictate what is right or wrong and in many cases people say that there is no absolute truth. In the midst of all the lawlessness, chaos, confusion, there is and will always be an absolute truth and that is the living word of God.
As we were praying and preparing for last week’s Psalm 91 lesson the Lord spoke to my heart through His word. He told me that root cause of the terror, arrow, pestilence, destruction in the world is satanic and begun before the foundation of the world in the heavenly realm when Lucifer actively revolted against God and was cast out of heaven as satan. It manifested itself in the earthly realm when the Lord God created man in His own image and likeness and man rebelled against God. The Lord God gave man the right to choose in the Garden of Eden; the only thing that God did not want him to partake of was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The serpent (=satan) tempted Adam and his wife and both of them disobeyed God and the fall of man ensued. In Genesis 3:11-12 it says “And He (the Lord God)said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.” Satan’s accusations toward God in the life of man began and this led to sorrow, pain, barrenness, and murder (Cain and Abel). Thus, the pattern was established in man’s sinful nature to blame all evil things that happen on God or someone else. We even have it written in legal documents as “an act of God”.
In the times that we are living in we see this played out in so many ways- we blame God for tragedies such as diseases, disasters, famines, etc. or we blame one another for broken relationships, sexual immorality, idolatry, etc. Man does not want to accept personal responsibility for his actions just like Adam. Revelation 12:11-12 says “for the accuser (satan), of our brethren who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Accuser is defined by Strong’s Greek dictionary “to charge with some offense.”Satan is the great accuser and often times we align ourselves with the accuser and blame God for evil things which cause us to get bitter, angry, envious, and not enjoy fellowship with Him. As a result we become accusers of the brethren as well. The Bible says in Prov. 6:19- “A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among the brethren” is an abomination to the Lord. We must not be sowers of discord/accusations. We put ourselves in a very precarious position and without repentance we will suffer very serious consequences and have no one to blame but ourselves. The divisions we face in our families, churches, nation, are all the result of accusations towards God and one another. Isaiah 58:9 it says- ….if we take away the yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,…..then our light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be s the noonday”. We often times wonder why we don’t see mighty works of God as in Acts, We need a transformation in our hearts-racism, sexual immorality, idolatry, murders, hatred, etc. begin in the heart of man. There is not anything that man can do in his own power to transform us, only the blood of the Lamb applied by the power of the Holy Spirit can do this. The Holy Spirit convicted me of the sin of accusation towards Him and people and praise God His goodness leads me to repentance.
My prayer is that this rhema word from the Lord strengthens and brings refreshing as you allow the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
