A Heart and Mind Set in Christ

A Heart and Mind Set in Christ

[Faith Race 11-23-2020]

Press on in the WORD

There is never a day in our lives that our hearts and minds remain untested in our walk with God. There will be times of trials and tribulation through which our faith is worked to allow patience have its perfect work (James 1:2-4), thereby allowing the Holy Spirit to control our lives, and not our flesh. It is the Spirit that gives life, and the flesh profits nothing (John 6:63).

It is written that man is not able to serve two masters at the same time ; thus, one will either be loyal and serve mammon or  be loyal and serve God (Matthew 6:24). The former is when the flesh is in control, and lives are geared to seek those things which are of the earth. The latter is when the Spirit is in control of our lives, thus having our lives geared toward seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and not being focused, anxious or worried about temporal matters like food and clothing (Matthew 6:25-34).

While Jesus walked on earth, He remained focused on the kingdom of God and the will of the Father, at the instance of not knowing where He would lay His head (Matthew 8:20) and not partaking of earthly food to the surprise of His disciples (John 4:34).

Our focus must be the same, as we run the race of faith set before us, looking into Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2), seeking first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

The Tested Heart and Mind

Jeremiah 17:10 – I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind. Even to every man according to His ways. According to the fruit of his doings.

Psalm 7:9 – O, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end. But establish the just; For the righteous God tests the hearts and minds.

Romans 8:5-6 – For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on things of the flesh, but to those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

John 6:63– (Jesus said)  It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

Hebrews 4:11-12 – For the word of God is living  and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even the division of soul and spirit, and joint and marrow, and is the discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart.

Psalm 26:2 – Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart.

Renew Your Mind

Romans 12:2 – And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

1 Peter 1:13 – Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully that is the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 – For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

 Set Your Mind

1 Corinthians 2:16 – For “who has the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Proverbs 16:3 – Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.

Colossians 3:1-4 – If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Philippians 3: 12-15 – Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that which Christ has laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Therefore, let us as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.

Praise, Bless, and Please the Lord Jesus Christ!
